Master Degree

Person who complete the Speech and Language Therapy Master's Program with Thesis have the skills to assess, diagnose and plan the therapies of many different patient groups and individuals of various ages, with the acquired information and the completed observations. In addition, they also acquire academic study, planning and implementation skills.

It can address Delayed Speech and Specific Language Disorders, Fluent Speech Disorders, Speech Sound Disorders, Speech and Language Disorders Due to Hearing Loss, Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies, Neurogenic Speech Disorders, Voice Disorders and Swallowing Disorders from many perspectives. Person can provide guidance for these disorders and follow the treatment process. For this purpose, they can use instrumental and perceptual assessment methods in their objective and subjective assessments of these disorders.

Graduates who complete this program receive the title of "Specialist Speech and Language Therapist".

The main purpose of the Speech and Language Therapy Master's program is to train specialist speech and language therapists who play a role in achieving the planned goals with their services in the field of health and rehabilitation.

The Department of Speech and Language Therapy aims to raise public awareness, contribute to science by using knowledge through education based on scientific facts, and provide contemporary and independent working skills in collaboration with an interdisciplinary approach.

Speech and language therapy specialists have a wide range of working areas, including as specialist speech and language therapists in state and university hospitals, as lecturers at universities, in private speech disorders centers, special education centers and guidance research centers. The thesis master's program has started accepting students as of the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Program Outcomes

  1. Have up-to-date, evidence-based scientific knowledge at an expert level in the field of speech and language therapy and knows how to use field-specific devices.
  2. Can synthesize the knowledge gained at the level of expertise in the field of speech and language therapy and use it within evidence-based practices.
  3. Can carry out an academic study in the field of speech and language therapy independently and/or as a team.
  4. Have knowledge of research methods at a level to be able to read and evaluate a scientific article in the field of speech and language therapy.
  5. Can systematically discuss the developments in the field of speech and language therapy, academic publications, verbally and visually.
  6. Can develop and interpret strategies and policies within a scientific and ethical framework on issues related to the field of speech and language therapy.

In order for individuals to apply to the Speech and Language Therapy Master's Program with Thesis, they must be a Speech and Language Therapy undergraduate graduate and meet the criteria determined by our university in the fields of ALES Numerical score, foreign language scores and undergraduate graduation averages.
